Oak
Our Marx oak floorboards are made from wood that has grown for at least 180-200 years and comes from sustainably managed forests
This means that the trees are carefully selected and removed from specially designated areas.
In addition, new trees are planted and sown, thus safeguarding the limited resources and sustainably caring for the environment.
The oak has a distinctive grain with different patterns and diverse textures. The color of the wood varies from a light yellow tone to a darker brown tone. It is resistant to scratches, wear and moisture, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas, a real all-rounder among trees.
The growing region and the age of the tree can have a strong influence on the quality, structure and coloring of the wood. Older, slow-growing trees often provide denser and harder wood that is more resistant.
Oak planks are available in different grades, which differ in the number and size of knots as well as the grain. The grade influences the appearance of the floor and allows you to find the style you want. The most common GRADES are EXQUISITE (no knots), BRILLIANT (small knots), MARKANT (larger knots), NATURALLY DRY (uneven with dried knots with or without saw cut) and CORE CRACKED (long longitudinal cracks).
The oak plank flooring in 3-layer construction offers a variety of advantages such as hardness, durability, wear resistance and an attractive appearance. By choosing sustainable production, you are also supporting environmental protection. The different assortments allow you to adapt the flooring to your individual taste and style.
Oak planks can also be smoked or steamed to give the wood a darker color and a more intense, deeper grain. These treatment techniques can give the oak flooring a rustic and natural look. The depth of the grain is enhanced as the smoked and steamed surface is darker than the untreated wood.
Marx oak flooring can also be treated with various lyes to adjust the color of the wood to the customer’s wishes. The lye mixture reacts with the ingredients of the wood and thus changes the color of the oak. Lye can also be used to achieve different color tones and effects, from a lighter shade of grey to a darker shade of brown. The exact color can be adjusted according to the customer’s wishes. It is important to note that the reaction of the wood to the lye treatment depends on various factors, such as the tannic acid content, the moisture content of the wood, the duration of the treatment, etc… this gives the oak a unique look and emphasizes the natural grain of the wood extremely well, according to the motto:
