Fir
A Marx fir plank floor from a regional, sustainable growth area impresses above all with its beautiful, even, fine grain.
The color varies from a light yellow tone to a reddish brown.
If you want to create a natural and warm ambience in your living space, fir is exactly the right choice. The wood exudes a certain coziness and goes well with different furnishing styles.
The age of the tree from which the fir wood was obtained can vary depending on its origin. As a rule, however, trees that are at least 80 years old are used.
One of the advantages is the regional availability. There are still large stocks of fir trees, so the wood can be sourced locally. This reduces transportation costs and environmental impact.
Our fir planks can also be steamed to give them a darker, more antique color. This process means that steamed fir is often used in historic buildings.
In contrast to spruce, fir wood has no resin pockets and is therefore generally free of such irregularities, giving it a more uniform and high-quality appearance.
The ideal wood for purists – less is usually more.
